Saturday was a big day for Marvel Television as it was announced thatMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Season 5 is set to premiere on December 1st. They also revealed the first trailer for Marvel’sRunaways. For those lucky enough to be in attendance for the Marvel panel at New York Comic-Con, a 20-minute teaser forAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5was also previewed, which has yet to make its way online as of this writing, which means that it more than likely will not make it online, much like the mythicalAvengers: Infinity Warteaser that premiered at the D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con over the summer.
Fans in attendance for the Marvel panel were also treated to a lighthearted surprise when Marvel released the blooper trailer forAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. The 3-and-a-half-minute blooper reel does a great job at lifting the curtain behind one of TV’s more serious shows, while demonstrating how much fun theAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. castand crew seems to have with each other. There’s a great scene where Patton Oswalt is obviously making things up off the top of his head: Quage. Just think about that one for a moment.
Though the blooper reel was great for the rowdyMarvel crowd, it was the Season 5 teaser that everybody was there for. Normally,Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.would already be in full swing at this point, but ABC took a gamble and put out Marvel’sInhumansfirst, which has proven to be a misstep for Marvel and the network, sinceInhumansis getting thrashed by fans and critics. One thing that it has done is create a giant wave of excitement and impatience for fans who are waiting forAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.to finally come back on the air. The good news is that the wait is nearly over.
TheAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.panel gave the fans what they came to see, a preview for Season 5, and it did not disappoint. Season 5 will pick up right after the events ofAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Season 4, so the crew will be in space and the main villains will be theevil blue Kree. There’s also a new mystery character and everybody will be in space except Fitz. All in all, fans ofAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.have a lot to look forward to when December 1st rolls around.
Marvel’sAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.will premier afterInhumanson ABC, Friday, December 1st in a 2-hour special premiere.
