After making her first live action appearance inThe Mandalorian, the transition of originally animatedStar Warscharacter Ahsoka Tano to her own seriesStar Wars: Ahsokais continuing to pick up pace as the Disney+ limited series has now addedPacific Rim: Uprisingstar Ivanna Sakhno to its cast list opposite Rosario Dawson in the title role and Natasha Liu Bordizzo. The Mandalorianspin-off series is just one of the many newStar Warsprojects coming to Disney+ in the near future and will see theStar Wars: The Clone WarsandRebelscharacter coming into her own.
According toDeadline, Sakhno will play a brand new character created for the series and will join Dawson’s Ahsoka and Bordizzo’s Sabine Wren in the series which is also reported to include an appearance by Hayden Christensen asAnakin Skywalker, following his reprisal of the role in next year’sObi-Wan Kenobiseries. There has been no official confirmation of Sakhno’s casting yet by either LucasFilm or the actress but that will surely come in good time.

Star Wars: Ahsokais being written by old timeStar Warswriter Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau will be executively producing, although beyond that very little is known about what the plot of the series will be or how someone like Anakin Skywalker will figure considering the timeline of the series, likeThe Mandalorian, takes place in the years afterReturn of The Jedifollowing the death of Darth Vader. However, there is link between Anakin and Ahsoka, with the latter previously being an apprentice of the former. We all know by now that with Force Ghosts or the potential for flashbacks, there are a lot of ways that Christensen’s character could figure in the series.
While the recent movies in theStar Warssaga seem to have missed the mark with some fans, the Disney+ output has been delivering hit after hit withThe Mandalorianstanding head and shoulders above the rest. The original Disney+Star Warsoffering has now created a spin-off ofThe Book of Boba Fett, which will arrive on the platform in December and bring back the fan favorite bounty hunter who made a grand return in the second season ofThe Mandalorianbefore his spin-off show was announced.
Another highly anticipated return to the franchise is Ewan McGregor inObi-Wan Kenobi, the live-action series that takes place years after the face-off between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker that led to Anakin becomingDarth Vaderand setting in motion the rest of theStar Warssaga. The return of Hayden Christensen in the series was announced as part of Disney’s investor day in December 2020 and set up a rematch between the two iconic characters that fans have been waiting a long time to see. With Christensen also on board for theStar Wars: Ahsokaseries, fans will be getting to see a lot more of the actor back in the franchise than they ever believed they would considering the sixteen year gap since he last played Anakin Skywalker in 2005’sRevenge of The Sith.
