NBC’sGrimm, one of the most underrated dark fantasy shows of the past decade, has now hit streaming. Featuring a likable cast that went on to become familiar faces,Grimmfollowed a supernatural hunter who battled classic fantasy creatures. A forgotten gem from the 2010s,Grimmwas a rare instance when the modernization of classic fairy and folk tales worked as a procedural. It’s not perfect by any means, especially in the show’s latter seasons, but there is enough to keep fantasy lovers invested from start to finish.

All six seasons ofGrimmare now available to stream on Peacock. The show stars David Giuntoli as Nicholas “Nick” Burkhardt, a homicide detective who comes from a long line of “Grimms,” which have the superhuman ability to see the mythological creatures known as the Wesen. Alongside his partner, Detective Hank (Russell Hornsby), they solve week-to-week mysteries revolving around the Wesen and encounter those who can transform into fairy-tale creatures. Meanwhile,Superman & Loisstar Bitsie Tulloch also stars as Nick’s love interest, Juliette Silverton, and Silas Weir Mitchell also recurs as a werewolf-like Wesen named Monroe. The show featured some outdated CGI transformations and some hokey costumes, butGrimm’s commitment to the modern fairy-tale concept and its charming characters are enough to keep you invested.

The lack of a follow-up toGrimmdespite the spinoff announcement is actually not too shocking. Despite the show having a faithful fanbase for its six-season run, it often struggled with ratings and retaining audiences over that span with a Friday night timeslot. Moreover, the cast ofGrimmwent on to star in other major projects. Bitsie Tulloch was cast as Lois Lane in CW’s Arrowverse and starred in the highly-acclaimed DC superhero seriesSuperman & Lois, which just concluded after four seasons. The DC connection doesn’t stop there, as David Giuntoli has voiced Batman in several animated movies, includingBatman: Soul of the Dragon.
