‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Could Perform Even Better at the Box Office
About a month ago, MovieWeb reported that thebox office tracking ofCaptain America: Brave New Worldwould see an opening weekend of around $86 million to $95 million. Marvel and Disney decided to open the film over the three-day President’s Day weekend, with some kids across the United States off for the entire week. That could bode well for the film.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Opening Weekend Projections Are Not The Best - But a Long Way from the Worst
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ projections point to it landing Marvel its fourth highest-grossing President’s Day opening weekend of all time.
Updated tracking now hasthe film opening as high as $105 million, per Box Office Theory (viaGameRant) with the minimum number still $86 million. The promotional machine is firing on all cylinders asBrave New Worldwill be opening globally. In North America, the predicted final box office is $207 million to $274 million.

To put it in perspective, the firstCapmade $176.6 million at the domestic box office ($370.5 million worldwide). Meanwhile, the second made $259 million domestically ($714.4 million worldwide), and the third - which was pretty much anAvengersfilm - made $408 million domestically ($1.15 billion worldwide). In China, fans are very excited, with thefirst day of ticket sales going for $346,000, beating last year’sDeadpool & Wolverine, which made $221,000 on the first day of ticket sales.
This is good news for a film thatsaw multiple delays as much of the original film, then calledCaptain America: New World Order, was re-written and re-filmed. Despite all of that,Brave New World’sbudget is estimated to be around $180 million, far less than the rumored $350 million.

Additionally, the buzz surrounding the film sounds positive, although social media embargoes don’t lift until tonight (Feb. 11) at 9 pm PT. According toComicBookMovie, the consistent thoughts are thatBrave New Worldis “OK-to-pretty good,” which could explain a middle-of-the-road opening (when compared to previous MCU blockbusters) and a final domestic haul of as high as $274 million. It’s going to come down to word-of-mouth.
Captain America: Brave New Worldopens on Valentine’s Day with sneak peek screenings the day before.
