MCU fans can start the week on a high, as the upcoming blockbuster,Avengers: Doomsday, has now started filming in the United Kingdom. Not only that, but returning directors,Avengers: Endgamepair Joe and Anthony Russo, have now taken to social media to share the first official behind-the-scenes image from set, teasing the long-awaited arrival of Doctor Doom.
While the image doesn’t show off much, merely offering a look at the chair thatRobert Downey Jr.will sit in on set as he makes his triumphant (and somewhat confusing) return to the MCU as new villain Victor Von Doom, the confirmation thatAvengers: Doomsdayfilming has now begun should be more than enough to have MCU fans excited.

Captain America Reveals Which X-Men He’s Most Excited to Team-up With in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Anthony Mackie might be Captain America, but he has been a fan of one particular X-Men since high school.
It’s also possible that the image shows off more than we think. One of the prevailing fan theories about Downey Jr.’s comeback is that he will be playing an alternate Tony Stark. However, the seat seemingly confirms that he will be portraying Victor Von Doom, a detail that throws those theories into question. Certainly, Downey Jr.’s return remains the biggest of many mysteries currently surrounding the Avengers sequel.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Boasts a Stacked Cast of Familiar Marvel Faces
Alongside Robert Downey Jr.,Avengers: Doomsdaywill boast a stackedensemble cast of familiar Marvel faces. The official cast announcement took place over what felt like days, with a video gradually revealing the backs of chairs with the actors’ names on. And while several names were expected, such as Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, and Paul Rudd, there were several surprises.
Alongside the likes of Captain America and Thor, several members from the original Fox X-Men universewill return for the Avengers outing. This includes Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and James Marsden as Cyclops. And their inclusion has many thinking that, rather than an adaptation of any Doctor Doom arcs, Avengers: Doomsday is instead really an “Avengers vs. X-Men” movie.

While the direction ofAvengers: Doomsdayremains unknown, anewly revealed set video seemingly confirmsthat, despite being debunked, the recent artwork depicting a medieval setting is indeed accurate. Meaning the Avengers and The X-Men will somehow find themselves in a universe of Doom’s making.
Directed byAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgame’sAnthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely,Avengers: Doomsdaystars a huge ensemble cast that so far includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr., and is scheduled to be released on June 19, 2025.
