Back in May, while promotingCaptain America: Civil War, directorsAntony RussoandJoe Russorevealed thatAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War Part IIwill getnew titles. Another report from last month revealed that the first movie had been retitled justAvengers 3. Now it seems that the studio has decided on an official title.Avengers: Infinity War Part 1has been changed to justAvengers: Infinity Warand it will no longer be two movies.Avengers 4is currently going under the temporary title ofUntitled Avengers, with the official title to be determined at a later date.

Deadlinereports that, despite the title changes, both movies’release datesof July 31, 2025 and June 07, 2025 remain unchanged. The original titles were first unveiled during a Marvel press event in the fall of 2014, when the studio unveiled their entire Phase 3 slate. However, it seems that both the filmmakers and the studio weren’t completely sold on those titles.

WhileJoe Russoconfirmed this past May that the titles would eventually be changed, he also added that they hadn’t figured out what to call the movies quite yet. He also clarified that they are both two very different movies, and the Part I and Part II titles are “misleading,” since they aren’t just two halves ofone gigantic movie. Now that theInfinity Wartitle is set, the guessing game shall begin as to what the fourthAvengersmovie will be called.

BothAvengers 3andAvengers 4are slated to shoot back-to-back starting this November, with a shoot that is expected to last over nine months.Christopher MarkusandStephen McFeely, who wrote all threeCaptain Americamovies, wrote the script for both of these newAvengersmovies, but no plot details have surfaced yet. We do know that Thanos (Josh Brolin) will be the main villain, presumably as he tries to assemble all of the Infinity Gems for the Infinity Gauntlet.

No cast members have been confirmed yet, but the old and new Avengers are all expected to surface in this adventure.Robert Downey Jr.(Iron Man),Chris Evans(Captain America),Mark Ruffalo(Hulk),Jeremy Renner(Hawkeye),Scarlett Johansson(Black Widow),Elizabeth Olsen(Scarlet Witch),Paul Bettany(Vision),Don Cheadle(War Machine) and more are expected to come together to take on Thanos (Josh Brolin), but the directors have also teased there may be upwards of67 charactersin this movie. With production starting in just a few months we’ll have to wait and see what details, if any, Marvel will confirm before shooting starts.
