After reprising his role asCaptain Americain the summer blockbusterAvengers: Age of Ultron,Chris Evanstakes on a completely different role in the first trailer forBefore We Go. The actor not only stars alongsideAlice Eve, but he also makes his directorial debut with the film. The indie drama was acquired by RADiUS-TWC following its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival last year.

The film follows the journey of two strangers (Chris EvansandAlice Eve) stuck inNew York Cityfor the night. Starting as convenient acquaintances, the two soon grow into each other’s most trusted confidants when a night of unexpected adventure forces them to confront their fears and take control of their lives. The film is set to hit theaters on September 4, but it will be available on VOD formats starting tomorrow, July 21.

The supporting cast is rounded out by Emma Fitzpatrick, Mark Kassen, Daniel Spink, Beth Katehis, Fenton Lawless, Kevin Carolan, Turhan Caylak and Elijah Moreland.Chris Evansdirects from a script that was worked on byRonald Bass, Chris Shafer, Jen Smolka and Paul Vicknair.Before We Gowill hit theaters in limited release on September 4, going up against wide releasesJane Got a Gun,The Kitchen SinkandThe Transporter Refueled.

You may recall that, last year,Chris Evansrevealed he wants to take a break from acting after hisMarvelcontract is up, to focus on directing. He is currently filmingCaptain America: The Winter Soldierin Atlanta, which is the fifth movie in his six-picture deal with the studio. Unless his contract is amended, this likely means that he will only be featured in eitherAvengers: Infinity War Part 1orAvengers: Infinity War Part 2, but not both films.
