The coming month will have some familiar titles and some exclusive to the network. With the overall selection of television series, old favorites, Peacock originals, and dozens of movies each month, the streaming service offers a lot for the monthly price. So without further ado, let’s get to the list of movies.
Adam Sandler Fans Rejoice!
In the last decade or so leading up to his huge Netflix deal andthe hefty extension, it had been open season to take cheap shots at the actor for resting on his laurels with sequels and less-than-inspired fare. Then came his bravura turn in the Safdie BrothersUncut Gems,and just like that, he was cool again. Fans of the actor can feast on several of his early films streaming in Apr. Gangs of New York
Martin Scorsese’s 2002 epic about the Irish Gangs, crooked cops, and Tammany Hall politicians residing in turn of the century New York.Daniel Day-Lewisturns in a wildly charismatic and terrifying portrayal of Bill “The Butcher” Cutting, the charming and ruthless leader of the Confederation of American Natives. Leonardo DiCaprio was already a movie star thanks toTitanic,but it is his performance here as Amsterdam Vallon, the son of the man slain by Bill Cutting, that solidified his station as one of the finer actors of his generation. Cameron Diaz, John C Reilly, Henry Thomas, and Brendan Gleeson round out an all-star cast.Gangs of New Yorkstreams in April on Peacock.
The late Tony Scott directed this tense thriller about the risks and fledgling loyalties that accompany being a company man, that is a CIA operative, Starring Robert Redford andBrad Pitt. Coming out in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the city of New York, the country was not in the right frame of mind for a spy thriller. That is a shame because it is one of Tony Scott’s best films and a terrific throwback to the thrillers that Redford made in his heyday. A great script, excellent pacing by director Tony Scott and great chemistry between the two leads makesSpy Gamea must-see for any fans of the spy genre.

Brokeback Mountain
There has been so much more done in LBGTQ cinema since the film debuted almost twenty years ago in 2005, but it was truly groundbreaking for the time. Two leading men with box office appeal and an award-winning director inAng Lee, with a huge budget focusing on a gay love story, was a very big deal. A thoughtful film with a standout performance from the late Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal makesBrokeback Mountainone of the best films playing on Peacock this month.

Fifty Shades Darker & Fifty Shades Freed
Last month the first film in the trilogyFifty Shades of Grey,based on the wildly popular series of novels by E.L. James,played on the network. In April, both sequels will be streaming. The saga of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey’s unconventional love story reaches its conclusion withFifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. The films are beautifully shot by director James Foley (Glengarry Glen Ross, Fear) and offer strong performances from the leads Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Another early 2000s entry that is not talked about enough,Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,featuresJim Carreyand Kate Winslet as lovers who undergo a revolutionary procedure to erase the memories of one another with unintended results. The cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Kristin Dunst, Elijah Wood, and Tom Wilkinson.
