After a busy few months,HBO Maxplans to continue bringing in new viewers thanks to a handful of new TV shows. The popular streaming service has become a hotbed for new series as of late. FromEmmy-nominated limited seriesto multiple-season shows, HBO Max has something for everyone to watch. July is no exception. Though the streaming service has nothing new airing until halfway through the month, it packs on good watches in the last two weeks.
FBOY Islandreturns for its second season on July 14th. The reality show centers around women being able to determine if the men on the island are f-boys or not. On the 21st, Issa Rae’s new comedic series,Rap Sh!tdrops, perHarper’s Bazaar, and will follow two estranged high school friends who reconnect to form a rap group.Pretty Little Liars: Original Sinrounds out the month as a reboot of the popular series,Pretty Little Liarsfrom the early-2010s. FBOY Island Season 2 – July 14
Reality TV is a genre that is not going away anytime soon.FBOY Islandis HBO Max’s version of a sort of “dating” show in which three women have to choose between a group of men. There are 24 men to begin with, half of whom are “nice guys” while the other half are self-proclaimed “F-boys”. The ultimate goal is, of course, to find a love connection with one of the men. The cash prize is a nice incentive as well.
The show first aired in 2021 and was quickly renewed for a second season. That second season is dropping on July 14. If it’s at all like the first season, the new episodes will be dropped in parts of three with a total of ten episodes. Its host, actress and comedian Nikki Glaser, returns with a brand new cast of women and men.

The Rehearsal – July 15
Airing on HBO, the long-awaited seriesThe Rehearsaldrops on July 05, 2025. With only six episodes in the new comedic series, viewers can expect every minute to be jam-packed with laughs. Nathan Fielder is the director, producer, writer, and lead actor in the new show, which centers around “the lengths one man will go to reduce the uncertainties of everyday life.”
You may recognize Fielder from his work inNathan For You, a Comedy Central documentary-style comedy that aired from 2013-2017.The Rehearsalwill mark Fielder’s return to TV since wrapping onNathan For Youin 2017. Not much is known yet about his newest show, including the release dates of the full episodes, whether it will be a limited series or a multiple-season show, etc. Fans of Fielder do know that it is certain to garner laughs.

Rap Sh!t – July 21
Issa Rae’s latest venture comes to life on HBO Max in the form of a new series calledRap Sh!t. The series will be told through the lens of Instagram and will center around two recently reunited high school friends as they put together a rap duo. Told via Instagram Stories and Instagram Lives, the duo plans to infiltrate the party scene in Miami and do whatever it takes to become the best.
Rae based the new series on the real-life Miami rap groups called City Girls which was comprised of Yung Miami and JT, who both serve as co-executive producers on the series. The eight-episode series will feature a new episode each week, running through the rest of the summer. Rae has been pretty tight-lipped about what to expect in the new show apart from comedic moments and, of course, music.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin – July 28
In HBO Max’s newestPretty Little Liarslegacy,Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, the notorious A is back to wreak havoc on a new group of liars. While this is the third spinoff of the popular Freeform show,Original Sinhopes to earn more than one season, unlike its predecessors. Fans of the original series have been patiently awaiting more information on this show after it was first announced back in 2020. When the trailer and release date dropped for the new HBO Max show, their questions were finally answered.
The show plans on focusing on an entirely new generation of liars that are still housed within the same shared universe as the original series. The darker, more sinister version takes the new generation of liars face-to-face with a new A as they are tormented for crimes their parents committed 20 years prior. Bailee Madison, who is no stranger to horror films, will lead the group of new liars as they uncover the truth and try to outsmart A.
