Black AdamstarAldis Hodgehas discussed his future in the DC universe during an exclusive chatwith us here at MovieWeb. The actor, who can next be seen in the heist movieMarmalade, told us that he would love to continue and complete his tenure as Hawkman, but, equally, he would also be open to playing another comic book character should the opportunity arise.
“As a live-action space, I would love if they revisited Hawkman. It’d be awesome to step back into those shoes again. But if it was something where it happened to be a different hero, different character, I’m open to that as well. But I definitely would love to finish Hawkman. We had great plans there, and I would love to see those plans carried out.”
Introduced as Carter Hall, aka Hawkman in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’sBlack Adamback in 2022, Hodge’s performance was one of the clear highlights of the DC movie (alongside Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate), and no doubt fans would love to see him continue as the character.
However, things have now changed massively in the world of DC, with James Gunn and Peter Safran all set to begin theirrecalibrated DCU with 2025’sSuperman: Legacy. With this will come a major recast of many of the big DC characters, with Hodge therefore unlikely to return as Hawkman as part of the new franchise.
However, Hodge has also provided the voice of Jon Stewart, aka Green Lantern in the past, including in this year’s animated DC outing,Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One, and no doubt fans would be very much on board with the actor making the leap from animation to live action as the DCU’s GL.

Aldis Hodge Stars in This Month’s Marmalade & the Sci-Fi Thriller Parallel
BesidesMarmalade, which sees Hodge starring alongside Joe Keery and Camila Morrone, the actor is also set to star in this year’s science fiction thriller,Parallel. Led by Danielle Deadwyler,Parallelcenters on a grief-stricken woman who mysteriously finds herself navigating between parallel spaces.
During our conversation, Hodge heaped praise on Deadwyler and his brother, Edwin, with whom he wrote the movie alongside Jonathan Keasey.
“It was a fantastic experience for my brother [Edwin] and I, stepping into this space, producing and writing, working with Danielle Deadwyler. She’s amazing. I mean, she’s a gift as an artist.”
Now we’re inthe thick of it with awards season, we also asked Hodge whether he was rooting for any movies or actors in particular, with the actor rooting for his former co-star Danielle Brooks andThe Color Purple.
“I’m gonna give a shoutout to Danielle Brooks all day. We did Clemency together, and I’m very proud of her. I’m very happy. She’s well-deserving, and I really hope she gets up there and knocks it down. I wish that love could have spread through to Taraji. She did a great job. Fantasia, she was amazing, but [being snubbed] doesn’t take anything away from the fact that they are incredible, gifted artists. They are monsters at their craft.”
