Just how scary isBlair Witch? The new two minute trailer for thesurprise sequelis almost too hard to watch. And it has some shutting it off and leaving it behind. This latest sneak peek features a young woman becoming trapped in an underground tunnel with only her camera to keep her company. We’re not sure what her ultimate fate is, but it can’t be good. This is one claustrophobic stretch of film that might just be too much for the faint of heart to handle.
Adam Wingard directsBlair Witch, which is a true follow-up to the 1999 smash horror hitThe Blair Witch Project. He is best known for such cult favorites asYou’re NextandThe Guest. This latest thriller was originally being marketed as a horror movie calledThe Woods. But Lionsgate let the cat out of the bag earlier at this year’s Comic-Con, where it was revealed that this is a true sequel toThe Blair Witch Project. This second full-length trailer comes slathered in praise from some of the nation’s top horror critics. And it’s pretty dank, dark and truly terrifying.

The Blair Witch Projectdid get a sequel back in 2000, but it was meta in a lot of ways, and strayed from the found footage format, disappointing fans who fell in love with the phenomenon. It’s taken 16 years to get the franchise back on track, but early word of mouth is that this is not only the scariest movie of the year, but also an instant classic in the genre. It’s definitely not for anyone who gets scared of their own reflection. And could just prove to be one of the truly great horror movies of this decade.
This second trailer from Lionsgate offers a sneak peek at some of the movie’s big set pieces. It also pays true homage to theoriginal moviein its short runtime without giving away any of the movie’s secrets. It sets up the scares, and leaves the rest to the imagination. It’s what the word teaser means in every sense. If you like what you see here, you surely won’t be disappointed.

InBlair Witch, A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James' sister who many believe is connected to thelegend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.
Not only do we have a new trailer, we also have a new poster, all courtesy ofColliderThe poster warns that there is something evil hiding in the woods. But we really don’t need a poster to tell us that, do we? This latest entry in the horror franchise is set to hit theaters September 16, and we have a suspicion that it will be an early fall smash hit. Take a look, just be warned, this is not intended for anyone who has a heart condition.
