With the release ofStar Wars: The Force Awakensjust under one month away, fans are still clamoring for more footage, or anythingStar Warsrelated. British telecommunications company O2 released a new promo video, which doesn’t feature any actual footage from the movie, but it does show the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO having their first encounter with the beloved ball droidBB-8, on the desert planet of Jakku. As we’ve seen in previous photos and footage, C-3PO has a red arm in this video, which we’ll learn more about next month in an upcoming comic book.
Back in September, LucasFilm announced a newcomic bookentitledStar WarsSpecial: C-3P0 #1, a new story from the Journey toStar Wars: The Force Awakenspublishing program, which will debut in December. The tale followsC-3POon a solo adventure leading up to his appearance inStar Wars: The Force Awakens- and reveals what led to this change in appearance. LucasFilm still hasn’t announced exactly when this comic will debut, but hopefully we’ll hear more about its release very soon.

This video is essentially an ad for an O2 contest where fans can win tickets to the premiere ofStar Wars: The Force Awakensthrough the company’s website and Priority app. Fans can visit O2.UK/StarWars for more information, and for a number of otherStar Wars-themed offers through O2. This British company certainly isn’t the first to useStar Wars: The Force Awakenscharacters in its commercials, and it likely won’t be the last either.
Earlier this week, Verizon debuted a commercial that featured both BB-8 and Chewbacca, and with just under a month untilStar Wars: The Force Awakenshits theaters, there will surely be more companies who will try to capitalize on the franchise’s immense popularity to sell their products. Regardless of what ads may come text, the anticipation for this franchise is at an all-time high, with box office records already being broken, weeks before it hits theaters. We reported yesterday that there has already been $50 million worth of advanced ticket sales, which shatters the previous record of $25 million set by 2012’sThe Dark Knight Rises.

Some box office analysts are predicting thatStar Wars: The Force Awakenscould make over $300 million in its opening weekend, which would shatter the newly-established record of $208.8 million set byJurassic Worldthis summer. With $50 million in pre-sales already, it certainly is possible thatStar Wars: The Force Awakenscould meet or exceed these incredibly high expectations, but we won’t know for sure until December 18. Until then, take a look at this new video with R2-D2, C-3PO and BB-8.
