If the first set photo fromWonder Womanis any indication, Steve Trevor is a love from Diana Prince’s past. And yes, part of the movie does take place during World War II. Co-star Saïd Taghmaoui has shared this sneak peak as theDC Comicsmovie begins shooting. And we get our first glimpse of him alongsideChris Pinein costume.

Wonder Woman is said to begin shooting in London at the end of this month, before moving on to Italy. But it looks like things are up and running this morning. It’s believed that Italy will stand in for Prince’s home island ofThemyscira. And it’s speculated that what we’re seeing here is a moment captured in time from the rehearsals. Chris Pine is playing Wonder Woman’s longtime love interest Steve Trevor. And it seems we may be getting a romantic plot twist similar to the one between Captain America and Agent Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wonder Woman

WhileDC and Warner Bros.have yet to provide an official synopsis for Wonder Woman, it is believed to take place in three different time periods. The action is said to begin hundreds of years ago, before shifting to World War II and then present day. And it certainly seems like Chris Pine and Saïd Taghmaoui are dressed in 1940s period attire. Though we’re not sure who Taghmaoui is playing quite yet.

In the original comic book stories, Trevor was an intelligence officer working for the United States Air Corps. While flying to battle in the midst of World War II, his plane crashes on Themyscira, where he meets Diana and her Amazonian brethren. She acts as his night nurse, and brings him back from the brink of death. She then follows him back to thecivilized world, where she assumes the role of his War Secretary. She also moonlights on the side as the superhero we all know and love as Wonder Woman.

Chris Pine

Wonder Woman is set to appear inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where Steve Trevor will presumably no longer be a part of her life. Or he will be very old. There is no indication that we’ll see Chris Pine in that movie when it debuts this spring. But it looks like he’ll just be a part of her past. As you’ll notice from the photo below, the working title of this movie is Nightingale. It isn’t known if there is any significance to that just yet. Take a look at the first behind-the-scenes photo from Wonder Woman. Is it going to be a stink bomb? Or is the DCEU shaping up nicely?
