“Goonies never say die.“Corey Feldmanand the cast ofThe Goonies(1985) are rooting for former co-starKe Huy Quanto win an Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 12, according toPage Six.Following a25-year break from acting, Quan, now 51, has received widespread critical acclaim and numerous accolades for his role as Waymond Wang inEverything Everywhere All At Once, a science fiction film that follows an Asian family’s bid to reconcile through multiple universes. Currently, the Vietnamese-American actor is deemed the hot favorite to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar — a sensational achievement considering that, during the pandemic,he almost gave up acting entirely, and because it would make him the second Asian man to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in history, following Haing S. Ngor for 1984’sThe Killing Fields. In an exclusive interview withPage Six, Feldman, also 51, said that he plans on watching the ceremony to see his friend and former co-star take home the gilded statute: “I see Ke as a winner; he’s never stopped being one to me. The Goonies are family. People don’t really realize the depth of that blood, it runs deep.“Quan invited Feldman to one of the firstEverything Everywhere All At Oncescreenings. “I had a feeling it was something very special [after seeing it],” he told the outlet. “I just gave [Quan] a little advice. I said, ‘It’s been a long time; keep your head up and don’t let them get to you.’ I thought this is a remarkable performance, a brilliant film. The fanny pack scene is beyond iconic… fans ofThe Gooniesare going to lose their minds.“Related:American Born Chinese: Disney+ Unveils Cast and Releases a Sneak Peek of the Upcoming Action Comedy
The Rest of the Goonies Cast Roots for Ke Huy Quan
Feldman is not the only former Goonie who is supporting their old friend on Oscar night. It’s already well-known that Quan has remained good friends with Jeff Cohen, who played Chunk and is now a successful Hollywood lawyer, over the years. Following Quan’s Oscar nomination last month, Cohen tweeted, “Could not be more proud of and excited for my Brother, Ke Huy Quan.”
In addition, Kerri Green, who played Andy, toldPage Six:
I am so excited for Ke! His performance blew me away, he was beyond brilliant and I can’t think of anyone else who deserves this more. Not only is he an incredible actor, but he is such an incredible person. I really hopes he wins!
A rep for Josh Brolin, who played Brand, told the outlet, “We’re all rooting for Ke!”
