Disney, Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm presented their live action film slates this morning at theD23 Expo2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, and now we have some of the highlights from this event. Possibly the most exciting thing to happen was the arrival of some of Marvel’s biggest stars as they introduced MarvelPhase 3for the first time. We have video direct from the convention center featuring a look at bothCaptain America: Civil WarandDoctor Strange, which will both be in theaters in 2016.
Kevin Feigeled off the Marvel Cinematic Universe panel with a glimpse into the world of Marvel’s Doctor Strange. It featured a video greeting byBenedict Cumberbatch, who stars as the title character in thissuperhero movie, followed by apre-production piecethat offered fans a taste of the look and feel of the upcoming film, opening in U.S. theaters on August 08, 2025.Benedict Cumberbatchhad this to say about the movie.
“He’s an extraordinary character, brings in a whole other dimension-hmm, multiple dimensions-to theMarveluniverse. (It will be a) mind-blowing experience… Girls, cars, explosions, astral projection into multiple realms. The usual.”
Captain America: Civil War marched into D23 EXPO with an introduction by its producer,Kevin Feige. To the delight of the audience,Chris EvansandAnthony Mackieshowed up on stage to helpKevin Feigeshow never-seen-before footage from the movie. Before the footage rolled,Kevin Feigerevealed that there was a special “Easter egg” for fans to find: it was aptly a nod to D23 EXPO.
Marvel’sCaptain America: Civil Warpicks up whereAvengers: Age of Ultronleft off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
