Back in May, rumors surfaced thatDaniel Craigrefused a massive offer from MGM and Sony Pictures to return as James Bond in the next 007 movie. It has been speculated that he has been leaving the franchise so much that several “contenders” have emerged to take his place, such asTom Hiddleston,Idris ElbaandJamie Bell, despite no official word thatDaniel Craigwas leaving.Daniel Craigrecently spoke about the franchise, hinting that he has no plans to leave.
A year ago, the actor revealed in an interview that he’d rather “slit his wrists” than play007again, and that he just wanted to move on. He revealed that the interview in question took place one day after filming wrapped onSpectreand he recently spoke withVulture, revealing he has certainly changed his tune since then. Here’s what he had to say below.
“They say that shit sticks, and that definitely stuck. It was the day after filming [stopped on Spectre]. I’d been away from home for a year. Boo-hoo. It’s a good gig. I enjoy it.”
He added that there haven’t been any discussions aboutJames Bond 25quite yet, although there was a rumor last month that he was offered a whopping $150 million to return for two more movies. We also reported in May thatSam Mendes, who directed bothSkyfalland last year’sSpectre, will not return to the helm, although a new director has not been announced yet. Here’s what he had to say about the possibility of returning forJames Bond 25.
“Everyone’s a bit tired. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve got the best job in the world. I’ll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it. If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly.”
We last hear aboutJames Bond 25last week, whenCallum McDougall, who works forJames Bondproduction company Eon Productions, said thatDaniel Craigis the absolute “first choice” for the role. Earlier this summer,TomHiddlestonshot down rumors he was in talks to star as Bond. Hopefully we’ll have confirmation aboutJames Bond 25very soon.
