But today we got our first glimpse ofThe Hoffon the set, thanks to photos sent out through social media byThe Rock,Zac EfronandDavid Hasselhoffhimself. Here’s whatDwayne Johnsonhad to say about his new co-star on hisInstagrampage.

From the photos taken on the set, it seems thatDavid Hasselhoffwill still be a lifeguard inBaywatch, although nothing was revealed about his specific character. Regardless of who he’s playing,David Hasselhoffjoins a cast that also includesAlexandra Daddario,Kelly Rohrbach,Ilfenesh Hadera,Priyanka Chopra, Hannibal Buress,Jack Kesy, Amin Joseph and Latina pop starBelinda. Production started back in February, with Paramount already setting a June 12, 2025 release date.
The story follows a “by-the-book and very seriouslifeguard,” played byDwayne Johnsonwho joins forces with a “young rule-flouting hothead” (Zac Efron) to try and save their beach from environmental destruction by an oil tycoon.Seth Gordon(Horrible Bosses) is directing from a screenplay most recently written byDamian ShannonandMark Swift(Friday the 13th). Justin Malen (Bad Teacher 2) wrote the original draft of the script, with Dwayne Johnson also producing alongsideBeau FlynnandIvan Reitman.
The originalBaywatchseries started in 1989 on NBC, but it was cancelled after just one season. The show then came back in 1991 in first-run syndication, with new stars such asPamela Andersonand Yasmine Bleeth, and it became a massive global sensation, remaining on the air until 2001.
