That all changes withPowerless, a new series set within theDC Comicsworld that focuses on normal citizens, like the series' lead, Emily Locke, which we reported last week will be played byVanessa Hudgens.Bleeding Coolgot their hands on thepilotscript for the show, and reveals that there is one DC hero present in the first episode. There will be potential SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.
Last week’s report revealed thatPowerlesswill center on Emily Locke, an insurance claims adjuster who loves her job because it gives her the ability to help people. However, she has become rather frustrated with the destructive methods ofDC Comicsheroes in her town. The pilot script, written by Ben Queen, who previously created NBC’s sitcom A to Z, mentions one particular heroine by name, the Justice League member Crimson Fox.
Crimson Fox first appeared inJustice LeagueEurope #6 in 1989, with identical twins Vivian and Constance D’Aramis sharing the superhero role to allow each other to live seemingly-normal lives. In thecomic books, the sisters ran a major Parisian perfume company named Revson, and they both had the ability to release pheremones that stimulated extreme sexual desire in men. They also possessed superhuman speed and agility, and their gloves were fitted with steel talons.
In the pilot script, Crimson Fox has “caught” a train that she’s holding over her head, but Emily and several other passengers just want her to put the train down, so they can all get to work on time. The script also revealed her company is called RetCon Insurance, a playful nod to the term RetCon, which is short for “retroactive continuity.” This term is used often in comics to describe stories where things from the past have changed to make the present better. The pilot also reveals the story is set in a town called Charm City.
There are also passing mentions of other characters like Aquaman, who one of Emily’s co-workers talks about in a sexually suggestive manner. There are also references to Wonder Woman, and the tone of the show is being compared to shows such as Ally McBeal and MAS*H. While they haven’t revealed the whole script, you can visitBleeding Coolto check out some excerpts from the pilot, which was dated July 16, 2025. Of course, things may certainly change between now and whenever the pilot is shot, but stay tuned for more updates onPowerless.
