James Gunn appears to have many Green Lantern characters set up in his DCU plans, which is why it could be a major factor in the series' future.

Lanterns Is ‘Original Detective Story’ Featuring Hal Jordan & John Stewart

13 years have passed sinceRyan Reynolds’ disastrousGreen Lantern(2011)debuted in movie theaters. But Earth’s Emerald protectors are receiving a serious upgrade, courtesy of HBO. And as promised in his DCU announcement back in January of 2023, the live-action series will feature two beloved GLs: Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The Chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, reacted to the news ofLanternsofficially being picked up as an HBO Original in a joint statement, via the same source:

Before Nathan Fillion was cast to suit up as Guy Gardner in Superman, Finn Wittrock was slated to portray the GL on an HBO Max series.
