Did John Cleese Join Justice League and the DCEU?

Despite the perceived problems facing theDC Extended Universeat this point, one thing these movies have not had an issue with is casting. They’ve hauled in big names likeWill Smith,Ben Affleck,Amy Adams,Margot Robbie,Jared Leto, and the list goes on. It looks like that very impressive list might be getting longer, as comedy legendJohn Cleesejust might be joining up with theDCEUstarting withJustice League.

Don’t get your hopes up quite yet, but there is some, and we do mean only some, evidence that theMonty Pythonactor is circling a DC movie for Warner Bros. AsTwitteruserDennis Lambpointed out, both theBatman V. Superman: Dawn of Justiceaccount, and DC PhotographerClay Enosboth followedJohn Cleeserecently. That may not seem like much on paper, but it is more of an indicator than you may think.

True BloodstarJoe Manganiellorecently landed the role of Deathstroke, who will be the main villain inBen Affleck’sThe Batman. His name had been thrown around for a long time for the part, but shortly before the announcement was made, some similar Twitter activity occurred when he was followed by someDC relatedaccounts. Why else would theBatman V. Superman: Dawn of JusticeTwitter account followJohn Cleeseunless Warner Bros. is at least considering him for a part in a DCEU movie?

As for what part he could be up for? The door is wide open on that one. Warner Bros. has a ton ofDC Comicsrelated projects coming down the pipe. Not only that, butZack Snyderis still shootingJustice Leagueand there will surely be cameos setting up characters for future movies, so maybeJohn Cleeseis filming a little tease to a larger role in the future. Or it could be something as simple as a cameo role. No matter what, having someone as legendary asJohn Cleesein a DCEU movie would be a pretty big deal and would definitely help elevate whatever movie he shows up in.

DirectorPatty Jenkinshas the next movie up in the DCEU withWonder Womanon July 17, 2025. Though that is done filming, reshoots are happening, so the odds ofJohn Cleeseshowing up there are slim to one. Following that will beJustice LeagueonNovember 17, 2017. Also on the way isThe Flashon June 23, 2025,Aquamanon June 02, 2025,Justice League 2on July 13, 2025,Cyborgon August 25, 2025,Green Lantern Corps.on July 15, 2025 and some other movies in development without release dates yet.
