Tonight is a big night forMarvel Studios, with the world premiere ofCaptain America: Civil Wartaking place in Hollywood. This movie will kick offPhase Threein theaters on May 6, and in just a few hours, the studio is also debuting the first trailer for the secondPhase Threeadventure,Doctor Strange, in theaters November 4.Benedict Cumberbatchwill appear on ABC’sJimmy Kimmel Live!tonight to introduce the first trailer. But before the footage debuts, theMarvel Twitterfeed has released the first poster, which goes inside the Sanctum Sanctorum!
We got our first look at theSanctum Sanctorumwith aset photoshared by producerLouis D’Espositoin December, and we also got another look at the Sorcerer Supreme’s lair in concept art that debuted in January. In the comics, the Sanctum Santorum is a building that was built upon the site of pagan sacrifices, and before that Native American rituals, which is said to be a focal point for supernatural energies. The set photo also featured an artifact in front of the door, which many speculated is the Eye of Agamotto, a device the Doctor uses to defeat Dormammu in the comics. The Eye of Agamotto is also rumored to be the Time Stone needed for the Infinity Gauntlet.

Doctor Strangetells the story ofStephen Strange(Benedict Cumberbatch), an acclaimed neurosurgeon who uncovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions after a near-fatal car accident. The film will show audiences corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe never before explored, thanks to directorScott Derrickson, who is working from a script byJon Spaihts, based on the comic book character created byStan LeeandSteve Ditko.Doctor Strangeis set for release on November 4, going up against Warner Bros.‘Bastardsand 20th Century Fox’sTrolls.
