Back in January, we reported that Universal has delayed theTwinssequelTriplets, which brings back original starsArnold SchwarzeneggerandDanny DeVito, along withEddie Murphy.Josh Gadand his writing partnerRyan Dixonwrote two drafts of the script, but for reasons unknown, Universal has yet to move forward with the follow-up. Despite the lack of progress onTriplets,Arnold Schwarzeneggerspoke about the plot briefly onThe Howard Stern Showearlier today.
“Now we are talking about a sequel, where we find out at the funeral of our mother, that when we read the will, that there’s three of us.Eddie Murphyis going to be the third one and so they go, ‘How did that happen’ There’s an African American coming in here and all of a sudden he’s our brother. So we go to do the research but he can only get the money if we find him, so now we have to get him involved.”
Arnold Schwarzeneggeradded that the script is still being “fine-tuned,” butEddie Murphythinks the idea for the sequel is hilarious, although he isn’t sure if originalTwinsdirectorIvan Reitmanwill be back to take the helm on this follow-up.
“I don’t even know if Ivan is going to direct it or just produce it, but the writers came up with [the idea] and it’s hilarious. They have a script but it has to be, like most scripts, fine-tuned. And so they are fine tuning it right now. Eddie Murphy loves the idea.Danny DeVitoand I had lunch with Eddie Murphy over at my house, and we talked about the thing, and we were laughing and laughing the whole meal through because it was such a funny idea. And of course, who wouldn’t like it.”
