The Fallout Series Is More Than Fan Service
Unlike many video game adaptations,Falloutis intentionally different from its source material andwill be an original story. Director and producer Jonathan Nolan (Inception, Westworld) understands that an adaptation doesn’t have to be faithful, and can embrace the unique qualities of the cinematic medium rather than only pander to what people have already experienced. As Nolan said at a press event:
I don’t think you really can set out to please the fans of anything. Or please anyone other than yourself. I think you have to come into this trying to make the show that you want to make and trusting that, as fans of the game [ourselves], we would find the pieces that were essential to us… and try to do the best version.
