Earlier this week, we showed you anew photofrom AMC’sFear the Walking Dead, which continues the back half of Season 2 on Sunday, August 21. The photo hinted that Nick (Frank Dillane) may be heading to Mexico City, after his group scattered following the destruction of Celia’s (Marlene Forte) compound by Daniel (Ruben Blades). Today we have yet another new photo of of Nick, along with more details from showrunnerDave Erickson.
Entertainment Weeklyhas this new photo ofFrank Dillaneas a bloodied Nick. While we don’t know much about Nick’s mindset as seen in this image, showrunnerDave Ericksonrevealed that the back half ofSeason 2will focus on how this fractured family may (or may not) reunited again. Here’s what the showrunner had to say below.

“The big question for the back half [of season 2] is when and how will the family reunite? The interesting thing will be watching them splinter off in multiple directions and seeing how each group can survive and what they do to find their place in the apocalypse.”
Nick chose to leave his mother (Kim Dickens) and sister (Alycia Debnam Carey) behind in the midseason finale, but his whereabouts are currently unknown.Dave Ericksonrevealed that Nick chose to leave because he wants to find people who view thezombiesthe same way he does. Here’s whatDave Ericksonhad to say about Nick’s mindset heading into the back half of Season 2.
“For Nick, he wants to find a place where people see the dead the way he does, where people see the dead not as a threat, not as a danger, but as an extension of themselves - sort of an evolution. That’s his goal. So, when he leaves, when he realizes Celia’s gone, and the compound is burned, he’s going to set out to find people who are more likeminded and will give him some clues along the way. And then it sort of falls into the be-careful-what-you-wish-for category. When he actually gets to a place with some degree of spiritual comfort for him. It’s not going to last very long.”
