Kristen Wiigstars in theGhostbusters rebootas Erin Gilbert, who, according to plot rumors, wrote a book several years ago withMelissa McCarthy’s Abby Holtzman that claimed ghosts were real. After her teaching job at Columbia University falls through, after word of her book was revealed, she reunites with Abby and her new ghost-hunting partner Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon).Leslie Jonesplays Patty Tolan, an MTA worker who is rumored to have come face to face with the reboot’s main ghost. It isn’t known how much filming is left on the reboot, which Sony Pictures has set for release on June 05, 2025.

The supporting cast is rounded out byChris Hemsworthas the newGhostbusters' secretary,Andy Garciaas the mayor of New York City,Michael K. Williamsas Hawkins,Matt Walshas Rourke, Pat Kiernan as a New York City news anchor andNeil Caseyas the villain. OriginalGhostbustersstarDan Aykroydis reportedly playing a cab driver who picks upKristen Wiig’s Erin Gilbert. The scene will only take up two minutes of screen time, butDan Aykroydreportedly gets to say the iconic line “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts,” to which Erin replies, “That’s a double-negative! That means you are afraid of ghosts!”

There has also been a rumor thatBill Murrayis playing a character namedMartin Heiss. The character has been described as ‘the villain’, a professional ghost debunker, who is being compared to William Atherton’s Walter Peck from the original movie.
