TheX-Men universeis about to make its way to the small screen, as Fox has dropped the first teaser for their seriesThe Giftedonline. The teaser came seemingly out of nowhere, giving us our first look at some footage from the upcoming series, which is set to air later this year on Fox. This brief teaser is only the beginning, as it heralds the arrival of a full trailer next week, withThe Giftedhaving officially been ordered to series by the network.

Foxuses the very cinematic teaser forThe Giftedto introduce Reed and Caitlin Strucker in action, showing off their mutant powers in a world that doesn’t want anything to do with them. Long timeX-Menmovie director Bryan Singer helmed the pilot episode of the series for the network and, apparently, things went well because the show has been given a full season order at Fox for the 2017-2018 season. WithLegionalso doing well over on FX, it looks like the world ofX-Menmay be finding new life on the small screen.

Gifted

Historically, theX-Men franchisehas focused very heavily on the mutant perspective, butThe Giftedwill seemingly be shifting that focus a bit. The show centers on a suburban couple who has their lives rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. They are then forced to go on the run from a hostile government. The family joins up with an underground network of mutants and they must fight to survive. The hostile government is definitely teased in this brief teaser, and they don’t look like they are messing around.

It hasn’t been revealed whereThe Giftedfalls within theX-Men timeline, but based on the teaser, it looks to be fairly modern. That presents an opportunity for some cameos, should Fox decide that is something they want to do with the series at some point The show comes from the mind of Matt Nix (Burn Notice), withLauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jim Chory and Marvel TV President Jeph Loeb all serving as executive producers on the project. It also hasn’t been announced how many episodes the show has been picked up for, but we do know that we will be getting at least one season starting this fall on Fox. The showbegan shootingthis past March.
