James Gunnis of course referring to the former Deep Purple lead singer who later broke out as a solo artist with the hit 1987 single ‘Here I Go Again’. Will this song appear on Awesome Mix Vol. 2? James Gunnhas not yet revealed the full cast list forGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. As of now, the only new cast member who has been confirmed isPom Klementieff, rumored to be playingMantis. TheGuardians of the Galaxythemselves, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) are all set to reprise their roles from the original blockbuster. As previously reported, all additional cast members are in place, with a big announcement expected soon.
There has been a rumor thatKurt Russellis in talks to playStar-Lord’s father inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but his casting has not been confirmed. James Gunn has said in the past that the sequel will reveal who Star-Lord’s father is, and while he wouldn’t confirm that character’s identity, he did say that it wouldn’t be the same character from the comics, J’son.Kurt Russelldid confirm that he was approached to star in the sequel, but he has to watch the original movie first and read the script for the sequel before he decides. It isn’t known ifKurt Russellhimself was actually present at the table reads, or if he is in Atlanta right now, ready to shoot his scenes.
While we’re not sure what the plot may be just yet,James Gunnhas confirmed that theInfinity Stoneswill not featured in the sequel. The director also reiterated that Thanos will not be seen in the sequel, and it will not likely tie directly intoAvengers: Infinity War Part I.
