It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since M. Night Shyamalan andHaley Joel Osmentbecame household names thanks toThe Sixth Sense— hard for us, and hard for Osment, as well. “I remember the experience of shooting that movie so well,” Osment told MovieWeb in our interview with the actor ahead of his new film,Blink Twice. “It doesn’t seem that long ago. But then thinking of everything that’s happened since that movie came out, I guess it really has been a quarter-century, so I’m really happy that it still continues to find an audience these days.” He added:
“We didn’t do any special events for [the 25th anniversary], but the 20th anniversary, Night and I did a screening at Hollywood Forever, and Jordan Peele did a Q&A after… It was a really neat experience. And a lot of them didn’t know the ending, and it hadn’t been spoiled for them, which was kind of cool, too. So yeah, it’s a very special thing to be a part of.”

Disney Legally Forced Bruce Willis to Star in Two of His Biggest Movies
These films were massive for Bruce Willis but were in fact the result of a contractual obligation.
Osment also spoke about staying in touch with the power players behindThe Sixth Sense, including Bruce Willis, and a funny little connection betweenBlink Twiceand Shyamalan’s latest thriller. “I haven’t spoken to [Bruce] in a while, but I know his daughters a little bit. And in the immediate years after the movie, he was very good at staying in touch and, you know, leaving messages on the answering machine at my house and things like that.”

“Night and I’ve seen each other over the years. I was just at his, I guess it was his 50th birthday party out in Pennsylvania a summer ago. So yeah, one thing that’s cool about this [25th] anniversary, is thatwe’re both going to have films in theaters at the same timeduring August [Blink TwiceandTrap]. So that’s kind of fun.”
M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap Is (Kind of) a True Story
The new movie from M. Night Shyamalan, Trap, is surprisingly based on true events… sort of. Learn more here.
‘Strong Memories’ of Throwback Cinema
The Sixth Sense
Ever sinceThe Sixth Sensehit the masses, film as a medium has undoubtedly evolved in a number of ways, while others have remained unchanged. “There’s been a ton of technical changes that stick out to me,” said Osment in reflecting on his decades-long career. “We used to shoot everything on film. I have really strong memories of, you know, checking the gate and hearing the sound of the film going through the canister. That really is different, to not have anymore.” He continued:
“Then, just in terms of my age, I mean,I felt very lucky that I got exposed to so many incredible artists at a young ageand got to learn a lot from them. So the really essential aspects of making movies and television, building a character and everything, those have stayed pretty constant. That’s something that is not going to get changed too much by technology.”

Blink Twice Review: Huge Stars Have Fun in a Flashy but Uneven Thriller
Zoë Kravitz behind the lens and her real-life fiancé Channing Tatum leading the ensemble almost compensate for a jumbled headscratcher of a satire.
Osment’s new movie,Blink Twice, is a good example of that. The wild thriller involves plenty of other acclaimed actors, including Channing Tatum, Kyle MacLachlan, Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Geena Davis, and Alia Shawkat, plus one who’s taking her stab at directing this time around (Zoë Kravitz). The darkly satirical plot revolves around a reclusive tech billionaire who invites a new love interest along for an extended vacay overseas at his remote island. Osment steals his scenes inBlink Twiceas one of Tatum’s party-hard pals on their getaway, proving that the actor hasn’t missed a beat since his star-making role 25 years ago inThe Sixth Sense.

From Amazon MGM Studios,Blink Twiceis currently in theaters.
