After the success of this summer’sAnt-Man, which earned over $180 million at the domestic box office and $518 million worldwide,Marvelannounced the follow-upAnt-Man and the Wasp, which will be released on July 31, 2025.Paul RuddandEvangeline Lillywill be back to reprise their roles asScott Lang/Ant-Manand Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp in this sequel, but no story details have been divulged so far. Evangeline Lilly recently made an appearance at the Comic Con Experience in Brazil over the weekend, where she revealed a casting suggestion she has for the sequel
“I do not know anything aboutAnt-Man and Wasp.Marveldidn’t tell me anything, but wouldn’t it be cool if Hope was behind her mother and if she was played byMichelle Pfeiffer.”
Earlier this year, while doing press forAnt-Man,Evangeline Lillyrevealed in an interview that she wants Hope to meet her mother, Janet Van Dyne, and that she wantsMichelle Pfeifferto play the role. InAnt-Man, we learned that Janet Van Dyne disappeared into the Quantum Realm several years ago. One of theAnt-Manend credits scene featured Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) showing his daughter Hope the Wasp suit that both he and his mother were working on for her, at the time of her disappearance.
Evangeline Lillyrevealed this summer thatMichelle Pfeiffer’s performance as Catwoman in 1992’sBatman Returnswas one of her favorite performances of all time, which is why she wants the actress to come aboard and playJanet Van Dyne. As of now, thesequeldoesn’t have a screenwriter attached to write the script yet, butPeyton Reedis coming back to direct. It isn’t known how far along in developmentAnt-Man 2is at this point, or if the producers are considering using Janet Van Dyne for this sequel.
