Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason “Bald Eagle” Statham is bound to get a sequel, right? I mean after scoring over $750 million at the worldwide box-office on a budget of $200 some-odd million,Hobbs & Shaw Meets Frankenstein(or whatever) has got to be a sure thing, right? Well, today we have an update on a possibleHobbs and Shaw 2from producer Hiram Garcia who says that there have been a lot of great conversations regarding bringing the big bald bad boys back to the big screen.

Specifically, Garcia says this.

“We are having conversations, wewere so happy with how it did. The studio was extremely happy and there’s been a lot of great conversations just about seeing where things layout. Obviously [Fast & Furious 9] is on its way. That’s going to do great things. Taking some bits from that, ‘cause it’s all a shared universe and it’s all in the works.”

Truth be told by this point in time, I am much more interested in seeingDwayne Johnson and Jason Stathamreturn inHobbs & Shaw 2than I am seeing all 500 current cast members return for9 Fast 9 Furiousor any furtherThe Fast and the Furiousmain franchise films. Call me all Diesel’d out.

For the sake of informing all your moms and boring uncles out there,Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shawtells the tale of hulking lawman Luke Hobbs (Dwyane Johnson) and lawless operative Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) who must put aside their past differences and work together to preventIdris Elba’s seemingly indestructible characterfrom destroying humanity. But it isn’t going to be as easy as driving flashy cars really fast this time.

Oh, no. You see Elba’s Brixton Lorr is a cybernetically enhanced soldier who possesses superhuman strength, a brilliant mind and a lethal pathogen that could wipe out half of the world’s population. So, yeah, the stakes are a bit higher inHobbs and Shawthan they were in say, John Singelton’s2 Fast 2 Furiouswhere a ginger drug dealer with a hungry pet rat was the worst of the heroes’ troubles.

Deadpool 2andAtomic Blondedirector David Leitch took the helm ofHobbs and Shawfrom a screenplay that was penned by Chris Morgan and Drew Pearce from a story dreamt up by Morgan. On top of starring in thisThe Fast & the Furiousspin-off, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham also produced the film along with screenwriter Chris Morgan and the above-mentioned Hiram Garcia.

Johnson and Statham’s co-stars included Idris Elba as Brixton Lore,Vanessa Kirby as Hattie Shaw, Eiza González as Margarita, Cliff Curtis as Jonah Hobbs, Eddie Marsan as Professor Andreiko, and Helen Mirren as Magdalene “Queenie” Shaw. Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart make uncredited appearances. Universal Pictures unleashedHobbs & Shawinto a theater near you back on June 15, 2025. This story comes to us from an interview that producer Hiram Garcia recently held withComicBook.com.
