The Season 6 finale ofOutlanderaired all the way back in May 2022, and fans experiencing the dreaded droutlander couldn’t be happier with the release of a brand-new teaser for the upcoming season. Viewers last saw Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) torn apart, despite their best efforts, as Claire wrongfully faces murder charges for the death of a member of the Ridge. Reminiscent of earlier seasons in the series, the show’s most recent season ended with quite a cliffhanger leaving fans yearning for more.

Thankfully, STARZ released a very brief teaser for the upcoming season to help quench the droutlander thirst until this summer when the show is set to air. Even though the teaser only clocks in at under 40 seconds, there’s no shortage of scenes for diehard fans to dissect. Jamie’s voiceover spans the length of the entire teaser, and as he speaks, images of Season 7can be seen in a montage of sorts. There are shots of Claire at Fraser’s Ridge, a British soldier ripping the Declaration of Independence from a post, a funeral at the Ridge, a British merchant ship in the ocean, as well as many other scenes worth diving into a bit more.

Outlander Jamie

Jamie Describes a Dream

The teaser opens with a voiceover of Jamie and a closeup of his face, particularly hispiercing blue eyes. It’s unclear what he’s looking at as his voiceover tells Claire he had another dream. When she asks him to tell her what happened, he explains he saw a kind of light all around her. As he continues, he clarifies the light wasn’t made by candles or a fire. Rather, he states the light is what he believes electric light from the future might be. Claire then asks him how he would know it to be that kind of light if he’s never seen such a thing in his life. He simply responds, “I dream of the past, why would I not dream of the future?”

Such an answer is no doubt a huge indicator of the direction of the show in the upcoming season and whether Jamie will see more of the future in his dreams. It’s surely within the realm of possibility inthe time-traveling seriesadored by its fans.

A Fire at Fraser’s Ridge

At one point in the teaser, a worried-looking Claire can be seen scooping water into a large pale as she’s illuminated by some sort of light off-screen. She’s not the only one gathering water, but viewers are unable to see what the water is for. It’s possible something large at the Ridge is on fire and residents are doing their best to exhaust the flames. There’s a high possibility the building on fire is in fact Jamie and Claire’s home, which will burn at some point according to a newspaper article from the future. Audiences will remember the article Bree (Sophie Skelton) discovered in Season 4 detailing the deaths of Jamie and Claire in a fire at their house sometime in the 1770s. While the upcoming season might not explore those events, it will soon be a new decade, and time is running out.

A New Baby Coming

When viewers last saw Bree, she announced her pregnancy to Roger (Richard Rankin) before theypacked up the family and leftfor Edenton, so Roger could work toward becoming an ordained minister. While he’s been acting as the de facto minister for the Ridge, they decided to make it official.

Outlander Claire

According to the new teaser, the time has come for Bree to give birth. It’s unclear whether she’s back at the Ridge or in Edenton, but she can be seen dressed in a white nightgown with what appears to be Roger and someone else behind her. She’s clearly in labor and pushing, which means a new baby is likely to be featured in the upcoming season.

The Gallows and Claire’s Hair

One of the final scenes in the teaser shows Claire with short hair standing at the gallows with a noose around her neck. Her feet can be seen stepping forward before someone unknown grabs her from behind, seemingly preventing her from walking off the edge. It can be assumed Claire doesn’t parish because she’s seen at the beginning of the teaser with much longer hair. What might seem like a trivial detail could actually indicate her survival from the gallows.

Viewers surely remember last season when Claire’s hair was cut by Malva and Mrs. Bug, who believed doing so would cure her after she fell very ill. In spite of the haircut, she managed to pull through and ended Season 6 with the same short hair seen at the end of the teaser for Season 7. Therefore, it’s safe to assume the scenes in which Claire has long hair take place after she survives her stint with the gallows allowing the time-travelinglove story to continuefor at least another season.
