MoreIndustryis coming to HBO. It has just been announced that the series has been renewed for a third season, perTHR. HBO’s senior VP of programming, Kathleen McCaffrey, has confirmed the news of the renewal in a statement, which you can read below.

“Industryreached new heights in season two, cementing its status as a buzzy hit with addictive storytelling, layered characters, a breakneck pace, and keen observations about contemporary workplace dynamics. We’re incredibly proud of what Mickey [Down] and Konrad [Kay], Jami O’Brien, Jane Tranter, and the team at Bad Wolf, together with our entire cast and crew, accomplished. We couldn’t be more excited to continue our journey with them into season three.”

Industry, a co-production of HBO and BBC, is created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay; the two also executive produce with Jami O’Brien, Jane Tranter, David P. Davis, Ryan Rasmussen, and Ben Irving. The show’s ensemble cast includes Myha’la Herrold, Marisa Abela, Harry Lawtey, David Jonsson, Ken Leung, Conor MacNeill, Alex Alomar Akpobome, Indy Lewis, Katrine de Candole, Jay Duplass, Sonny Poon Tip, and Adam Levy.

Industry Has Garnered Critical Acclaim

Perhaps one reason that the renewal was secured is that the series has been pretty well received. Critics have been enjoyingIndustry, as itsRotten Tomatoesscore for the second season ranked pretty high at 96%, a rise from season 1’s 76% score. The season 2 finale was also one of the highest-viewed episodes of the series, so it would appear that HBO is confident that the fans will return for season 3.

Even before the renewal news was announced, the show’s creative team have already been putting together some plans on where to next take the story. Down teased in aTIMEinterview that he’s looking forward to the plans they have for the show’s characters in season 3.

“The joy of doing a third season after you set up characters in the first two is that you’re able to smash characters that you haven’t before together,” Down said, adding that what happens next is “going to be massive.”

In a separate interview withGQ, Down also suggested that more of the “true nature” of Yasmin (Marisa Abela, who’srumored to be up for the role of Amy Winehousein an upcoming biopic) will be coming out in another season. This refers to the open-ended question of whether she really ended up skipping out on her bill, which fans will have to wait and see to get their answer.

“The beat about her leaving the bill is a nice little suggestion that we might not have seen the worst parts of Yasmin yet, and that her true nature is something that she might revert to,” Down said.

Kay added, “That bit with the bill, for me, that’s the essence of what we’re trying to do this show, and it’s kind of counter to TV logic. The idea that these characters always vacillate between change and reverting to the mean. At their core, even if we did 15 seasons, they are the same people they will always be. I love that beat, it’s so illustrative of who she truly is.”
