Fans still can’t stop talking about Marvel’sBlack Panther, even with the movie entering its fifth weekend in theaters. A recent report reveals howBlack Pantherleads to Wakanda battle in seen in theInfinity Wartrailers. While that upcoming adventure, arriving in theaters May 4, will bring practically every Marvel hero together on the big screen, that doesn’t mean they’ll all necessarily get to team-up.Tom Holland, who returns inAvengers: Infinity Waras Spider-Man, reveals that Peter would love to visit Wakanda, and that he wants to see Parker interact with teen tech wizard Shuri, played byLetitia Wright. Here’s what Tom Holland had to say about Wakanda and Shuri.
“I think Peter would love it. There’s some great moments in the comics where Peter ends up there. And Letitia and I have become really good friends over the last year and a bit. It would be brilliant to have our characters meet up, it would be so funny. She’s brilliant in the movie, she’s actually my favorite part ofBlack Panther.”
WhilePeter Parkeris no stranger to tech, especially with his new Tony Stark-designed Iron Spider suit, it may also be interesting for Peter Parker’s tech-savvy friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) to meetShuri. Regardless, there is no indication yet that Spider-Man and Shuri will meet inAvengers: Infinity WarorAvengers 4, but it’s possible that a meet-up will happen inSpider-Man: Homecoming 2, the first Phase 4 movie that takes place directly afterAvengers 4. We already know thatSpider-Man: Homecomingwill be shot in a number of European locations, which could hint that this may be a globe-trotting sequel for young Peter Parker, and it’s possible that a trip to Wakanda could be on the agenda. Robert Downey Jr. also revealed that he hopes Tony Stark gets to visit this high-tech country.
“Well, a technologically advanced country is probably something that he wishes would benefit humanity without creating more infighting.I think that’s what he would hope for America. That’s what he would hope for the world. I think to him, he would view it as a potentially utopian model.”
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also revealed in an interview that Wakanda will be an “anchor point” for Marvel’s Phase 4 slate, so we could certainly be seeing much more of T’challa and the rest of these Wakandan characters throughout Phase 4, which will also includeGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. There has also been plenty of talk aboutBlack Panthersequels and potential spin-offs as well, the latter of which could focus on specific characters like Shuri, or even specific Wakanda groups such as the Dora Milaje, the all-female group of warriors and assassins that protect the King of Wakanda, or even the Jabari tribe in the mountains, lead by M’Baku, played by breakout star Winston Duke in his first feature film role.
