Who Is ‘Invincible’ Season 3’s New Villain?

Season 3’s villain was teased both by Anissa in Season 2 and also byInvincible 3’steaser trailer. Following Mark and Anissa’s gruesome battle, where Mark did not appear to fare too well, Anissa warned Mark that the villain expected to arrive on Earth would not be as lenient towards Earth and Mark as she was. Similarly, in the teaser trailer, Cecil berates Mark for his performance against Anissa, stating, “Not only that, she promised Mr. Ten Times worse was on his way.“Cecil’s statement firmly cements the fact that Mark’s new foe will undoubtedly be formidable.

Invincible Creator Reveals His Long-Term Plans for Series' Future

Invincible has certainly made an impact on the superhero genre, and Robert Kirkman is more than happy to continue for a long time yet.

The villain that both Anissa and Cecil refer to is Conquest, one of the most powerful members of the Viltrum race. He is one of the major antagonists of the series and is referred to as the second most powerful being after Thragg. Propelled by bloodlust, Conquest does not have much regard for the Viltrumite cause. Rather, staying true to his name, he seeks to fight and conquer opponents he thinks are worthy.

What Will Conquest’s Arrival Mean for Mark in ‘Invincible’?

Mark Grayson, unfortunately, has not fared very well against any of his opponents. In Season 1, Mark was beaten by Omni-Man. Mark only survives the ordeal due to his father’s mercy. As such, from its inception, the series establishes that, contrary to his superhero name, Mark is not invincible. In fact, Mark constantly needs the aid of others to fight his battles. This is also seen in Season 2, where Mark relies on the help of Omni-Man. In addition, Anissa’s leniency ensures Mark’s survival.

Given Mark’s track record of not being able to fight his battles on his own,the arrival of Conquest does not bode well for the character. As one of the most powerful Viltrumite beings, Conquest would need a well-seasoned, strong opponent to put up a worthy fight and keep him at bay. However, Mark is the opposite, still immature and inexperienced in battle. Given this, Conquest’s arrival brings only gloom for the show’s protagonist.

Invincible Live-Action Film Receives a Major Update from Robert Kirkman

The live-action adaptation of Invincible has finally received a major update from its creator, Robert Kirkman, although it is somewhat disappointing.

However, theInvinciblesource material provides a somewhat happy ending for Mark, and if the series adheres to the comics' storyline, Mark Grayson may emerge as a changed person at the end of Season 3. As per the comics, Mark refuses to stand down against Conquest, and a battle ensues. Characteristically, Mark is overpowered and then aided by both Oliver and Eve. The battle leads to Eve’s seeming death, which propels Mark into a fit of rage that ultimately results in him killing Conquest.

The battle that leads to the death of Conquest finally sees Mark live up to his name and become the hero that the world needs. He emerges as a changed person, stronger and more confident in his abilities to fight against Viltrumite and more mature than the 19-year-old, who seemed too inexperienced to realize the weight of Cecil’s concerns. IfInvincibleSeason 3 does follow canon, viewers can expect to see an entirely different Invincible, AKA Mark Grayson, step into the confirmed fourth season of the series.Invincibleis available to stream onPrime Video.
