Marvel’s Netflix showsDaredevil,Jessica Jonesand the upcomingLuke CageandIron Fisthave long been confirmed to be part of theMarvel Cinematic Universe. Much like the movies, there are characters that have crossed over from these different shows, withRosario Dawson’s Night Nurse debuting onDaredevilbefore appearing onJessica Jones. Over the weekend, Marvel Television presidentJeph Loebsupposedly confirmed thatLuke Cagecharacter Misty Knight, played bySimone Missick, will also appear inIron Fist, but it appears that isn’t the case.

The Hollywood Reporterposted a quote from an interview withJeph Loeb, where he supposedly stated thatSimone Missick’s work onIron Fistis incredible. However, other sites like Comic Book Resources reached out to Marvel Television who revealed that quote wasn’t accurate. Here’sJeph Loeb’s original quote before it was changed.

“But I think Netflix is being very selective in terms of where we’re going. That being said, Simone just knocked it so far out of the park that we’re still trying to find the baseball. It’s somewhere out there traversing the globe. So it’s really great. And I can tell you that what she’s doing onIron Fist, it’s just incredible. The fans are really going to love it. And wait until you seeJessica Henwickas Colleen Wing. She’s amazing.”

The quote was later corrected to changeIron FistwithLuke Cage, but it isn’t known how this mistake happened. Regardless, while it seems we can look forward toSimone Missick’s performance inLuke Cage, debuting September 30, she won’t be crossing over toIron Fist, starringFinn JonesasDanny Rand. In the series, Danny will return to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist. Still, there have been rumors that Misty Knight could be eyed for a spinoff series, likeJon Bernthal’sThe Punishershow that is in development. Here’s whatJeph Loebhad to say about a possible Misty Knight spinoff series.

“We’re very lucky in a sense that our casts are so rich and deep and so diverse. We certainly have plans for all of our characters. A lot of it has to do with exactly how many shows Netflix is actually going to let us make. We’re up to six now. At a certain point, we have to be careful that we’re not becoming the Marvel channel on Netflix.”

When the reporter mentioned that most fans wouldn’t be upset if Netflix became “the Marvel channel,“Jeph Loebadded, “Nor would we,” and that the streaming service is being “selective” about where Marvel is going. Misty Knight first debuted in Marvel Premiere #20 in January 1975, as an African-American female NYPD detective with martial arts skills, whose look and personality was said to be influenced by blaxploitation and kung fu films of that era. At one point in the comics, she was given a bionic arm by Tony Stark which gave her superhuman strength, after she was injured trying to prevent a bomb attack. It’s worth noting that she has also been romantically linked to bothLuke CageandIron Fistin the comics, so we’ll have to see how her relationshipLuke Cageis treated on the upcoming series. When asked about the possibility of a spinoff,Simone Missickhad this to say.

“Somebody put it on Twitter that they want to see a Misty Knight series with Shonda Rhimes as one of the writers. I was like, ‘Hell yeah.’ How cool would that be? If you say it, if you put it out there, maybe it will happen. Tweet it, and it will come.”

Simone Missickwas also part of theLuke Cagepanel at San Diego Comic-Con, where she was given quite the surprise by the fans, when they cheered louder for her than anyone else on the panel, even series starMike Colter. The actress revealed that she was shocked by the incredible reception, which lead to an unusual photo of her surfacing from the panel. Here’s what she had to say below.

“I was completely surprised, I will say that. There was this picture of me on Getty Images - please, no one find it - but I have the biggest, goofiest smile on my face. I was blown away at the audience. I mean, really?! I never imagined it.”

Carrie-Anne Mosshas also come aboard to reprise her role fromJessica Jonesas lawyerJeri Hogarth, providing Danny Rand with some help as he returns to New York. She also appeared in the Season 2 finale ofDaredevil. TheIron Fistcast also includesJessica Henwickas Colleen Wing,David Wenhamas Harold Meachum,Jessica Stroupas Joy Meachum andTom Pelphreyas Ward Meachum.
