Is Maggie Getting Her Own Walking Dead Spinoff?

Lauren Cohan is teasing a possible Maggie spin-off afterThe Walking Deadcomes to an end. Fans of the hit AMC show were shocked to hear that it was coming to an end at the conclusion of season 11. However, there are still a lot more episodes on the way, especially since they extended season 10. The original final episode of the season 10 will premiere on October 4th and it sees Cohan’s Maggie character return for the first time since season 9.

When asked about returning toThe Walking Deadin a new interview,Lauren Cohansays, “I’ve been gone for a minute. I’ve been gone I guess for parts of two different seasons, and this will be exciting because this episode was originally supposed to be our [season] finale.” While she was supposed to come on full-time for season 11, the public health crisis has extended season 10. “The delay at first was disappointing, but now it’s nice that we have some new content coming, she said.

As forThe Walking Deadcoming to an end, Lauren Cohan states that there is still a lot more to look forward to up ahead. “We still have two past year’s-worth of stuff to shoot, so we’re still going to be on television for a significant period,” Cohan said.Season 11 won’t conclude until 2022. “We’re so lucky we’ve been going so long, and it’s so exciting to say, ‘Okay, let’s all key in for this final season and watch it together.'”

So what happens afterThe Walking Deadleaves the air? Lauren Cohan notes, “it’s sort of exciting because there will be spin-off possibilities… I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that yet.“The Walking Dead: World Beyondis all set to premiere on October 4th, but there are more spin-offs on the way. Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride continuing their roles asDaryl and Carol in a new spinoff, helmed by showrunner Angela Kang, which fans are excited about. And then there are theRick Grimesmovies, which will have deep ties toThe Walking DeadWorld Beyond}. Cohan was not kidding when she said there was a lot more on the way.

As for theMaggie spin-off series, that has yet to be officially announced by AMC at this time. Lauren Cohan basically hinted that it was a possibility and did not go any further. Whatever the case may be,The Walking Deadfans are excited to see her return at the end of season 10 and then again in the extended season, and again in the final 11th season. As to when work will be able to happen again, that is unclear, but some shows are already getting productions fired up with increased safety protocols, so it might not be too much longer.
