Jake Gyllenhaalhas teased the brutal, bare-knuckle action that will be on display in this year’s remake of the classic 80s action movie,Road House, revealing that the fist fights have been filmed “in a way that has never been done before.” In a new interview withTotal Film, who have also released several new images from the Road House reimagining, Gyllenhaal heaps praise on director Doug Liman and his desire to do something different with the action genre.
“[Director Doug Liman] always does action in a different way, and he came to me and said, ‘I want to do fights in a way that has never been done before.’ He became pretty much obsessed with how the punches would land, and the kicks would land. He didn’t want them to be performed in the way that we have for audiences in the past with that kind of fighting.”
We have seen some of these punches and kicks landingthanks to the recent trailer, and it certainly looks like Gyllenhaal and Liman are aiming for something more barbarous and bloody than perhaps audiences expected. Road House stunt coordinator Garrett Warren echoes these sentiments, recalling that he assumed they would do this magic trick once or twice, maybe three times." Instead, it was every time.
“But no, not with Doug. Doug wanted to do it the whole time. The shots were never cut. When you see this movie, the fights are way beyond any fight that has ever been filmed in cinema history. This is something that is groundbreaking.”

Road House Remake Team Reportedly Turned Down Theatrical Release Offer from Amazon
Road House is set to be released exclusively on Prime Video despite director Doug Liman choosing to boycott the film’s premiere.
