Strap in, because the situation surrounding the new favorite to lead Amazon’sJames Bondreboot gets a little complicated. While the likes of28 Years Laterstar Aaron Taylor-Johnson,The Gentlemen’sTheo James,Slow Horsesstar Jack Lowden, and former Man of Steel Henry Cavill continue to find themselves as top choices, a new name has now emerged. And he already has some 007 experience…or does he?
While the likes of Taylor-Johnson, Cavill, James, Lowden, andHappy Valleystar James Norton continue to boast good odds to be the one chosen to take over as 007 from Daniel Craig, a largely unknown name has started to climb the list. That name isPatrick Gibson, and if you don’t recognize him yet, you soon will. The Irish actor has starred in such well-known productions asThe OAandShadow and Bone, with his most prominent role being that of a young Dexter Morgan, the serial killer who kills other serial killers originally played by Michael C. Hall,in the prequel seriesDexter: Original Sin.

Former James Bond Star Knows What It Takes to Be a “Good” Bond
“You gotta be dangerous. You gotta know yourself.”
But, while Gibson has been widely praised for resurrecting Dexter, that’s far from the most interesting thing about him. Nor is that the reason why he’s suddenly become a favorite for Bond. His shock climb up the rankings is thanks to the rumors that he is already playing Bond inthe upcoming video game,007 First Light. The first footage from the game, which is due to be released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and more in 2026, was released earlier this month, with many convinced thatGibson is the face and voice behindthis digital young James Bond.

Would Patrick Gibson Make a Good Live-Action 007?
However, while fans have used their deductive skills to assert that Patrick Gibson is the new James Bond (in video game form, at least), the casting of 007 inFirst Lighthas not yet been officially confirmed. And directorJonathan Lacaille has since revealed why this is…
“We want people to care about the game first, we wanted to introduce a good game and get people excited about our choices. The genre, the story, introducing this new world to players. This has to be the focus, this is what we’re presenting today. There’s a lot of news, the name of the game is a big one. For everything about the cast and the voice actors, we’ll talk more about that in-depth when we talk about the story and so on later this summer.”

Despite this, Gibson’s suitability for James Bond has clearly been noticed, with the actor hitting the board with odds of 15/8, according to PaddyPower. While we await official confirmation that Gibson really is James Bond in007 First Light, it’s easy to see why Amazon could be looking at the 30-year-old actor for their upcoming reboot, which has long been rumored tointroduce a version of the action hero that’s much youngerthan audiences are used to.
