After more than a year of anticipation, fans of the crime dramaMayor of Kingstownare finally getting a first look at the upcoming fourth season. Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the long-awaited new installment, and it teases an explosive chapter with series starJeremy Rennerfacing off against some new players, most notably Emmy-winning actressEdie Falco. The fourth season of the hit series, created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, is set to land on the streamer on October 26.

Mayor of Kingstownfollows the story of Mike McLusky, Renner, an ex-con who takes over the unofficial role of “Mayor” in a titular fictional Michigan town where the prison system is the sole economy. He acts as a “fixer,” and navigates the complex relationships between law enforcement, locals, and prisoners, working to maintain a fragile peace. Season 4’s official synopsis reads:

“Mike’s control over Kingstown is threatened as new players compete to fill the power vacuum left in the Russians' wake, compelling him to confront the resulting gang war and stop them from swallowing the town. Meanwhile, with those he loves in more danger than ever before, Mike must contend with a headstrong new warden to protect his own while grappling with demons from his past.”

Along with Renner, Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi return. Edie Falco (The Sopranos), Laura Benanti (Younger),and Lennie James(Fear the Walking Dead) join the cast for the forthcoming season.

Edie Falco Joins Jeremy Renner in ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 4

Falco’s casting is particularly notable, as she steps into the role of Nina Hobbs, the new warden at Anchor Bay. Fans can get a sneak peek at her character in the newly released trailer above, where she challenges Mike’s authority. Given Falco’s celebrated history of playing powerful women on shows likeThe SopranosandNurse Jackie, viewers should expect that she’ll be a tough counterpoint to Renner’s character. In a previous interview withEntertainment Weekly, co-creator Dillon praised Falco and the chemistry between her and Renner, saying:

“She’s just so effortless. I’ve been a fan of hers for so long and then when you see her just at work, in the world, and with Jeremy Renner… it’s explosive.”

The new season comes over a year after Season 3 aired, and anticipation has been building since Paramount officially announced the show’s fourth season’s return in December 2024. In the same interview, Dillon shared that the upcoming installment is “a detonation, not an escalation.” He added:

“The blade’s sharper. The cuts go deeper. It’s about the intricacies of human emotion under pressure, and the choices we make when we have no good choices left. It’s an incendiary season 4.”

Mayor of Kingstownis executive produced by Sheridan, Dillon, and Renner, alongside Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Christoph Schrewe, Wendy Riss, Evan Perazzo, and Keith Cox. Erickson also serves as the series' showrunner.
