According to several reports,Jillian Bellhas closed a deal to Star in Bill and Ted 3. She’s set to portray a couples therapist to the Logan and Preston families named Dr. Taylor Wood. Bell, for her part, has been a rising star in the comedy world for the last handful of years. The actress came onto Hollywood’s radar via the Comedy Central seriesWorkaholics. In the years since, she’s gone on to star in movies such as22 Jump Street,GoosebumpsandRough Night. Bell has also appeared in other highly regarded shows such asEastbound & DownandBob’s Burgers. Bell is set to appear later this year in the buzzy indie comedyBrittany Runs a Marathon.
Jillian Bell joins an already impressive cast that includes plenty of new talent and a few familiar faces. Samara Weaving (Mayhem) is on board as Thea Preston, daughter of Bill, with Brigette Lundy-Paine (Downsizing) set to play Billie Logan, daughter of Ted. Other new cast members include Scott Mescudi, akarapper Kid Cudi, Anthony Carrigan (Barry), Beck Bennett (Saturday Night Live), Erinn Hayes (Kevin Can Wait) and Jayma Mays (Glee). Amy Stoch and Hal Landon Jr are both set to return from the original movies, as is William Sadler, who will be back to reprise his role as Death.
Talk of a third entry in the franchise has been going on for years, but it was only ever talk. Things got serious last year and the stars finally aligned to make this a reality. The original movie, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year. The sequel will center on amiddle-aged Ted Logan and Bill Preston, who never fulfilled their rock and roll destiny. This time around, they’ll be going on an adventure with their daughters, where they will encounter some old friends, new figures from throughout history and some musical legends.
Alex Winter doesn’t appear on screen as much these days. Though, this comes at a time whenKeanu Reeves is having himself a major pop culture moment. Not only has theJohn Wickfranchise truly taken off, but he’s also voicing Duke Kaboom inToy Story 4, in addition to having a legendary cameo as himself in Netflix’sAlways Be My Maybe. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) is in the director’s chair, working from a screenplay by original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.Bill & Ted Face the Musicis set to arrive in theaters on July 24, 2025.
