Donald Trump’s second reign as President of the United States has generated a litany of troubling developments, but the silver liningis that there’s no shortage of material for late night hosts to poke fun at. After all, they say laughter is the best medicine, and last night onJimmy Kimmel Live, the host was dishing out doses to the millions of people who watch his program in the hopes of alleviating some of the insanity that’s coming out of the White House these days.

This time around,Jimmy Kimmelcompared Trump to the villain from theSawfranchise(seen below), John Kramer, a.k.a. Jigsaw, which got a big laugh from the live studio audience. The comparison came after Kimmel spoke about the president’s press conference alongside Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which Trump suggested that the United States should take over Gaza for its own purposes, and permanently displace the more than two million Palestinians who live there.“We have a very, very crazy person running our country right now,“Kimmel said, adding:

“Like, standing in the intersection loudly talking to himself crazy. Yesterday, Trump held a doozy of a press conference with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he surprised everyone, including the people who work for him, I think, by unveiling this plan for Gaza. Which is, to relocate everyone who lives there. Permanently […] This is really what he wants to do. It’s like our country is being run by the maniac from Saw. You know that Donald ‘Jigsaw’ Trump is running this.”

The Biggest Twist in Saw Is This Insane Easter Egg

The Saw franchise has given fans plenty of Easter Eggs, but this scene in the first movie may be the best.

Trump’s plan is, of course, completely unhinged, much like John Kramer is in theSawfranchise,as he builds elaborate trapsto kill people he believes to be morally bankrupt. Some might say the president fits that bill pretty well, and that he could possibly learn something from being on the receiving end of Jigsaw’s traps, rather than being compared to the villain himself, but that depends on who you talk to.

Jigsaw Will Return in ‘Saw XI’

Kimmel and Trump aside, it should be noted that Tobin Bell’s character of John “Jigsaw” Kramerwill be returning for the latest installment in theSawfranchisethat’s due out later this year. Despite technically dying inSaw III, Bell has remained a fixture in the series through clever flashbacks, and while plot details for the film are unknown at this time, it’s assumed that it will beanother prequel likeSaw Xwas, which was set betweenSaw IIandSaw III.

Speaking on his return forSaw XIlast year, Bell noted that he’s thrilled to once more get the chance to take a deep dive into the character he’s portrayed for long.“I’m really excited about continuing to develop him,“he told the Los Angeles Times. “There’s more to learn.”

Headshot Of Tobin Bell

WithSaw Xreceiving some of the best reviews since the first film all the way back in 2004, it will be interesting to see where not only the next one takes us, but how the audience will respond to whatever clever plot device they use to bring Jigsaw back yet again. Look forSaw XIto open nationwide on Sept. 26 from Lionsgate Films.
