Back in February, Warner Bros. confirmed that production onJustice Leaguewill begin on April 11, news which came just before rumors surfaced that Warner Bros. may removeZack Snyderfrom the director’s chair. Those rumors turned out to be unfounded, and while production is under way at Leavesden Studios in the U.K., we haven’t gotten any official plot details or a full cast list from the studio quite yet. That hasn’t stopped a plethora of rumors from flying in, with today’s batch of unconfirmed reports shedding new light onDarkseid’s involvement, howZack Snyderwill shoot the Atlantis scenes, and Dafoe’s mysterious character. There will be potential SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

Willem DafoejoinedJustice League Part 1last month, but nothing was revealed about who he is actually playing. We don’t know for sure if he has started filming his scenes yet or not, but today’s report fromBirth.Movies.Deathreveals that the actor is playing an Atlantean. The site’s source wouldn’t specify which character from Atlantis he’s playing, but early reports have claimed that he’s playing a “good guy.” The site also has more information about the underwater Atlantis shoot thatZack Snyderis preparing.

Jason Momoa’sAquamanwas first seen during a brief cameo inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where it was clear that he actually shot that scene underwater, and he was holding his breath in a tank. ForJustice League,Zack Snyderis notshooting underwaterat all, instead building a specialized rig, with one arm securingJason Momoaand the other arm holding the camera. Both arms are programmed to move in sync with one another, allowingJason Momoato have a free range of motion while the camera moves around him, while the underwater environments will be filled in using CGI and green screen work on the set. The report also reveals that most of the movie will be shot on sets, with the director using green screen for background replacements.

Another separate report from Heroic Hollywood reveals more about Darkseid’s presence inJustice League Part 1. We reported yesterday that the primary villain ofJustice League Part 1will beSteppenwolf, with Darkseid said to have a presence at the very end of the movie, leading intoJustice League Part 2. This new report claims that Darkseid will also be seen during a flashback sequence at the very beginning of the film. The flashback reportedly takes place 30,000 years ago, when the humans, Atlanteans and the Amazons all worked together to defeat Darkseid on Earth. He left behind three “mother boxes,” which Steppenwolf is seen holding during the “Communion” deleted scene fromBatman v Supermanthat surfaced last month.

Naturally, none of these reports have been confirmed, and with production currently under way onJustice League Part 1, we don’t expect these rumors to be verified anytime soon. We also don’t know anything about what Darkseid’s plans may be forJustice League 2, which doesn’t hit theaters until July 14, 2025, and it isn’t known when production may begin on that superhero adventure. Stay tuned for more onJustice Leagueand the rest of the DCEU.
