Kevin Baconfans have been dealt a blow as his dark new supernatural action series,The Bondsman, has been canceled at Amazon after just one season. According toVariety, despitethe series scoring a healthy 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show failed to make the impact on Prime Video that it was expected to.
The action horror series dropped all eight episodes on Prime Video at the beginning of April, and seemed to be on track to be another huge success for the streaming giant. However, despite charting high on their own chart, the show only made it to ninth position on Nielsen’s list of streaming originals for the week of its release, delivering the equivalent of 9.38 million hours viewed.

10 Best TV Shows Like ‘The Bondsman’
For fans of thrilling, action-packed supernatural shows with a touch of dark humor, ‘The Bondsman’ is the latest must-watch on Prime Video.
Whilethis may be good enough to secure a renewal for some shows,The Bondsman’s production costs clearly needed more of a return. As it failed to achieve that, Bacon will unfortunately not be returning to screens in a second season, and, unlike his character, bounty hunter Hub Halloran, will not be getting a second shot at redemption.

This is a massive disappointment to fans of the series, and no doubt Bacon himself, who only a week ago was hopeful of getting another season. Speaking withCollider, he said:
“The dream is to do another season. I would love to do another season. When it comes to building an ending, you want to have something that is going to make people say, ‘Come on, we got to find out what happens here.’ With everything that is going on, one of the main things that is driving Hub is how much he still loves Maryanne and misses their relationship and love affair, but also the music that they made together and how those two things overlapped. So, to be left with the idea that an escaped demon has now possessed my ex-wife and that I have to continue to be around her and I can’t kill her because she’s inside this woman that I love so dearly, it’s a great dilemma for Hub. It’s a really good, cool way to end the show.”

‘The Bondsman’ Brought Kevin Bacon Back to His Horror Roots
The Bondsmanpremiered on July 13, 2025, introducing Bacon’s Halloran, who was ambushed and murdered by a former Boston mobster “Lucky” Callahan, who is dating his estranged wife. Halloran discovers that he now works (as a bounty hunter) for the devil. The first episode alone was enough for critics on Rotten Tomatoes to praise the series, and the show received decent enough ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences also praising the show with a 76% Popcornmeter score.
During an interview with Amazon, Bacon described his character as a “man child” with a lot of growing up to do, saying:

He’s a very fascinating character because he’s very much of a bad*ss. He’s an a** kicker who is hunting demons, but he is also kind of a man child who’s fundamentally not grown up even at this age. He has a lot of darkness and regret and is struggling with his own demons — it’s not an accident that he’s got internal demons and external demons that are both challenging to have.
