On Friday, it was announced that Conroy had died at the age of 66, and the news had come as a shock to both his friends and his fans. Given how much he is loved, it wasn’t long before social media began filling up with tributes as people expressed their sorrow over the loss. The news has also renewed some attention to a video Conroy himself tweeted back in June of this year. This followed the release of a specialBatmancomic book thatConroy helped developfor DC Pride, and as the actor was floored by how much support he’d gotten for that project, he filmed himself thanking the fans in the video clip.“Hi, this is Kevin Conroy,” he says in theTwitter video. “I just wanted to take a second to thank all of you for the reactions that I’ve been getting to the story that I wrote for DC Pride. It’s been overwhelming, and it is so appreciated.“Getting involved with DC Pride also included Conroy acknowledging that he’s gay, something he explains that can come as a risk to people in show business. For his part, Conroy was met with tremendous support in light of the news, and he stresses in the video just how much he appreciated all of it.“Whenever you share something that personal, you risk, and you all made that risk so worthwhile, because the support and appreciation has been extraordinary; I just wanted to verify you knew that,” he said.Conroy goes on to praise DC for the collaboration, commenting on how supportive and helpful they had also been throughout the entire process. It clearly all affected the legendary performer to such an extent that he felt it was important to try and let everyone know that the love and support meant everything to him.“Again, never underestimate how much I appreciate each and every one of you, and what you give me back for my performances,” Conroy adds. “It means the world to me.“You can see the video below.
