Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s next film, is already projected to be a new masterpiece in the director’s career. In fact, its current Rotten Tomatoes score surpasses all but one of his films from this century, and is his joint highest-rated movie sinceGoodfellas.
Based on David Grann’s nonfiction book,Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, the story is set in Oklahoma in the 1920s, when a series of suspicious deaths plague the Osage community. What appears to be a disturbing list of isolated cases gradually reveals itself as a terrible conspiracy to seize the money of the Osage people, which they have obtained after discovering pre-oil deposits on their lands.
