Yet another 20th centurymusicicon is having their life story told in a new biopic as ’60s pop star, Marianne Faithfull, will be the subject of a brand-new biopic by director Zaida Bergroth (Tove). As well as piling on to the increasingly popular musical biopic genre – 2024 saw the release ofA Complete Unknown,Bob Marley: One Love,Back to Black,Maria, andBetter Man– the new biopic also features some rising talent, as the stars ofKingdom of the Planet of the ApesandThose About to Dieare set to lead the new film. PerVariety,Freya Allen will play Marianne Faithfull in the new movie,Faithfull.Allen is best known for starring in therecentKingdom of the Planet of the Apesand her ongoing role in Netflix’sThe Witcherfranchise. As well as being a musician in her own right, Marianne Faithful was once the girlfriend of The Rolling Stones frontman, Mick Jagger. InFaithful, Jagger will be played by Jojo Macari, who is best known for his roles inThose About to DieandSex Education.
Marianne Faithfull began her music career in 1964, releasing “As Tears Go By,” which was co-written by Mick Jegger, Keith Richards, and The Rolling Stones' manager, Andrew Loog Oldham. The track is still one of her biggest hits, as well as “The Ballad of Lucy Jordan,” and a cover ofBob Dylan’s “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue.“Faithfullwill explore the highs and lows of Marianne Faithfull’s career and her life off-stage. The official synopsis reads:

“From angel-innocent pop icon, actress of stage and screen and long-time muse and girlfriend of Mick Jagger, to homelessness, addiction, and ignominy. Faithfull will depict Marianne Faithfull’s rollercoaster ride from the brightest lights of the wild 1960s of her youth, to fallen golden girl and then her remarkable phoenix-like rise and resurgence that establishes her as one of the great icons and true artists of our time..”
