Syfy’s Superman prequel seriesKryptonhas finally found its lead, with little-known British actorCameron Cuffesigning on to playSuperman’s grandfather. The story is set two generations before Superman was even born, showing howCameron Cuffe’s character, Seg-El, helped bring the House of El back into prominence while saving the planet of Krypton itself. Syfy hasn’t announced when production will begin on the pilot, or when it may air, if it gets picked up to series.
Entertainment Weeklyreports that Seg-El is the “scion of the once-prosperous El family,” which has since been stripped of its rank and shamed. No details were given about how the El’s had fallen. They now live inKrypton’s lowest caste after having been stripped of its rank.Seg-Elis said to possess, “intuitive brilliance for all things technical.”

This show will follow Seg-El as he turns this planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known, his grandson Kal-El, a.k.a. Superman. It remains unclear how many more roles will need to be filled before production begins.
