The comedy team,which includes Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske, is joining forces with Searchlight Pictures again foranother installment in itsSuper Troopersfranchise. Chandrasekhar, who has directed the first and second films, is set to direct the third, which will also be written by Broken Lizard again. While the group will reprise their classic roles, cast newcomers include Nat Faxon as Captain Todd Markowski and Andrew Dismukes as Coy Burns. Others who are set to return include Brian Cox, who portrays Captain John O’Hagan (the commander of the Vermont State Troopers), and Marisa Coughlan, who plays Ursula Hanson (Spurbury Police Department dispatcher). Core filming is set to start this week.
Super Troopers, the first film that started it all, follows a group of Vermont State Troopers who patrol a 50-mile highway in the fictional town of Spurbury, Vermont. They compete for prominence with the Spurbury Police Department, but they’re a bit unserious at times. Lieutenant Arcot Ramathorn (Chandrasekhar), Carl Foster (Soter), MacIntyre “Mac” Womack (Lemme), Robbie “Rabbit” Roto (Stolhanske), and Rodney “Rod” Farva (Heffernan) would rather play jokes on each other and motorists than enforce the law. This causes tension, and their station is at risk of being closed.InSuper Troopers 2in 2018, the troopers were called to set up a new Highway Patrol station when an international border dispute arose between the United States and Canada.

Searchlight Pictures President Matthew Greenfield released a statement declaring the studio’s excitementabout the latest additionto theSuper Troopersfilm franchise.
“Broken Lizard has been part of the Searchlight family for over two decades, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for another entry in the ‘Super Troopers’ saga. ‘Super Troopers’ has a way of making the absurd feel inevitable, and we can’t wait to bring audiences along on another adventure with these characters who leave a trail of joy and laughter, wherever their patrols may take them.”
When a cult classic continues to add to its franchise, fans have one request: keep the authenticity going. While they can guess what willbe in the thirdSuper Troopers, Chandrasekhar put it simply, saying: “Broken Lizard is excited to help bring the theatrical comedy back. To America, we say, ‘It’s mustache-growing time!'” The first two films earned around $55 million at the box office in total, despite not being well-received by critics, and they managed to capture the attention of their audience.
