After a very long wait due to the worldwide lockdown,American Horror Storyco-creator Ryan Murphy has revealed our first look at franchise newcomer Macaulay Culkin in season 10. The title for the tenth season has yet to be revealed, but as with previous seasons of the horror anthology series, it will follow a new story with a cast of characters consisting of both returning favorites along with new stars like Culkin. you’re able to catch your first peek at him alongside co-star Leslie Grossman in the photo below.

Returning cast members include Grossman, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Matt Bomer, and Finn Wittrock. Last year, Murphy also suggested that Kathy Bates would be back for the new season by revealing that she’d be having some intimate scenes withMacaulay Culkin
- which was what convinced theHome Alonestar to join the FX horror series.
Of course, Culkin is best known as a former child star. He famously starred asKevin McCallisterin the first twoHome Alonemovies alongside other memorable 90s classics likeMy Girl,The Good Son, andThe Pagemaster. In more recent years, he appeared in the Seth Green comedy movieChangelandand had a recurring role as himself onThe Jim Gaffigan Show.
“So, I have thisvery, very great insane part. And I asked to speak to him on the phone and he said OK,” Murphy said in an interview soon after Culkin’s casting was announced. “[When] I cast, I never let people read things, usually. I said, ‘OK, here’s the pitch.’ And I told them the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, ‘This sounds like the role I was born to play.’ So, he signed up right then and there.”
There’s not much else to go on concerning the story ofAmerican Horror Storyseason 10. Murphy is famous for withholding plot details during production, and season 10 has been no exception. The last season of the series, dubbed1984, served as a tribute toFriday the 13th-style slasher movies of the 1980s. Other subgenres of horror have been explored in the previous seasons. This will continue for some time to come beyond season 10, as FX has already renewed the show through season 13 on the network.
The franchise will further expand with the spinoff seriesAmerican Horror Stories, which will feature bite-sized horror stories told in each episode rather than the season-long story arcs on the main series. The first season will consist of 16 self-contained episodes and will stream on FX on Hulu. Like the parent series,American Horror Storieswill also bring back franchise stars with the door wide open for new guest stars to appear in different episodes.
American Horror Storydoes not yet have an official premiere date set for season 10. It was originally set to premiere last fall before the pandemic resulted in production delays.
