While fans wait forMad Max: Fury Roadto debut onBlu-ray and DVDSeptember 1, DC Comics' Vertigo imprint is publishing new comics that give fans insight into what happened to Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) just before the events of the movie. Today, Vertigo publishesMad Max: Fury Road- Mad Max No. 2, which brings this monthly series to a close, stories that also align with the franchise canon. “Left for dead and his V8 Interceptor stolen, Max Rockatansky sets out to retrieve it…heading straight into the bowels of the sunken city with nothing but his sawed-off shotgun. But the stakes are much higher than the fate of Max’s ride - an innocent girl, Glory, has also been kidnapped by the depraved Buzzards. By the time Max arrives, it may already be too late…”

The comic was written byMax Max: Fury RoadfilmmakerGeorge Miller, along withNico LathourisandMark Sexton, the latter of which also provided the artwork. Before you go out and pick up this comic,The Los Angeles Timeshas the first seven pages that you can check out below. For those who want to know what happens to Max afterMad Max: Fury Road, we may be seeing that soon on the big screen.
As for the movies,George Millerhas confirmed that he already has a script ready to go forMad Max 5, entitledMad Max: The Wasteland. The filmmaker had finished working on the script throughout the several production delays onMad Max: Fury Road. The filmmaker originally wanted to make two movies back to back,Mad Max: Fury RoadandMad Max: Furiosa, which would have surely centered onCharlize Theron’s Furiosa character. It isn’t known ifMad Max: The Wastelandwill incorporate elements ofMad Max: Furiosaor not.

Vertigo has also published comic books featuringMad Maxcharacters Furiosa, Immortan Joe, which are currently available for purchase atVertigoComics.com.
